I had yet another busy weekend... Sat.. after getting up and getting dressed, I headed over to Discovery Park... My friend Eric and I hiked around all the way to the beach area. It was a bit hazy out, but beautiful none the less. I love it here, and I love going places that make me say... Oh yeah, THIS is why I moved here!

After we went to SushiLand in QA for lunch, and I decided I could add that part a Queen Anne to my list of places to possibly move.

I went home, napped a bit, woke up to my friend Steve basically telling me to get my ass up and go to the M's game. So I hopped in the shower, threw on my M's shirt and we went to the game. We drank beer, watched the A's kill the M's... Then we went to Whole Foods to get sandwiches and took them to his friend, Sara's house. We played board games, which was surprisingly fun... Plus funny things come out of your mouth when you are drinking and playing a game like Taboo.

On Sunday my friend Chris called and asked if I wanted to go to the M's game.... So, I went and so did Steve. We watched the M's beat the A's this time, much to Chris's dismay, as he is from Oakland. Also, the M's are in 2nd to last place, only the National's have a shittier record.

I also went shopping this weekend and bought work clothes, and now I am all excited because I love new clothes... Now I just need new shoes, too... Hhhmmm...

Sunday (yesterday) Dan and I woke up, I made breakfast then we went off to the game. We tried to get on the free ride bus at 1st and Bell, but it was full, so it just drove past us. Then we went to Alaskan and Bell to get that bus, but it didn't come, so we ended up meeting random Detroit people and shared a cab with them.

We got into the game, got some beers, then snuck into seats that were way better than ours. Ok, so the game was on June 1, you think June, you think summer... and we were wearing hoodies and jackets and we were still cold! Oh, not to mention the sky had this perfect thick blanket of grey clouds above us...

The Tigers won the game, we stayed till the end... then we walked to Pioneer Square to get some food, but ended up going to Elliott's on Pier 56. I thought we could still get lunch, we couldn't, but we just really wanted the chowder anyway. We sat at the oyster bar and I chatted up the guy behind the counter and asked what oysters were best, and I told him I liked the salt oysters. He had me try one from Otter Bay, and oh my was it yummy. We ended up ordering 6 of them.

After that we went to my house, took a nap - which was much needed after a busy day of baseball ;) Then woke up, I took Dan home and then came back here and passed out.

Saturday I woke up, took Brandon to his place, came back here, did some work then showered and got ready for the 2nd Tigers Game. Charlie and his friends were going there, too, but I was meeting them there. I tried to take the free ride zone bus, but it didn't come and I ended up just walking to Safeco from my house.

On the way, one of the turning points of me living here happened... I always talk about one of the milestones of actually living in a place is randomly running into someone on the street. So there I am, walking down 1st Ave, past the market, maybe even in Pioneer Square by the time and I hear... "Elise". I turn around and it is Dan, of all people, which is even more random. Both of us were like a mile from our places, he was coming back from a work thing. I tried to convince him to go to the Tiger's game, but he went home.

I walked towards the stadium and I saw a police horse eating popcorn. I kind of laughed and it made me think of halfbaked, and Buttercup.

Then I went to Jimmy's at the Silver Cloud hotel to meet up with Charlie and his friends. We had a beer then went to the game. The Tigers lost. It was sad. Here are my pics from the game, which are starting to look so generic.

After my boys lost, we walked to Pioneer Square to get some food and drinks. On the way we passed this dog, which the guy I think got made at me cuz apparently you are supposed to give a dollar if you take the picture... but really, who does this to their dog??

We walked through Pioneer Square and went to New Orleans Restaurant. It is a cool old "southern" pub feel with exposed brick walls. They also had a live New Orlean's tyle jazz band playing in the "dining" side, but it was not too loud to still have a conversation on the bar side. The service was a little shoddy, and I ordered seafood gumbo and got chicken, but it was still really good chicken gumbo. I would go there again. I loved it this place, especially on a rainy day after the M's game. Oh, and this is their ladies room... I am weird, I know..

I walked back to my house after New Orleans, but first stopped at the market to get some dinner for Dan and myself. I got fresh salmon, veggies and this awesome vanilla flavored honey. So yummy. The market is so so so busy on weekends now that it is all touristy season, so going there on a Saturday was a bit suicidal.

I made it out of the market alive and then as I am walking back this guy stops me on the street. He first asked me where he should eat, and just random Seattle questions. I was trying to be nice and answer him, but he was a talker and from Dallas and then finally asked me to hang out. It was kind of random, and usually I am about random, but I just was not feeling it, so I declined.

I went home, I cooked, Dan and I ate... and then... played the Wii... Dan loves to beat me in boxing, apparently... Oh, we also looked for a puppy for me. I want a maltese-poodle or a maltese-bichon, and we found a few, but they are from breeders and I am trying to adopt rather than buy, so we will see.

I have been a bit behind on the blog front... but then maybe it is because I have been out, living life ;)

Friday I met my Montreal friend, Peter, at Wasabi Bistro in Belltown. Usually if I go to sushi, I go to Umi, but Umi is not open for lunch. Anyway, we had awesome sushi and then we went to Starbucks on 2nd for a cup of after lunch coffee...

Friday night Brandon and I went to the Tigers/Mariner's game.

The Tigers game was fun. Before hand we went to Del Rey, drank a bit, ate some food. Then we bused to Safeco. We did not have any money, but I was wearing an orange wig and the bus driver let us on. We met some kids on the bus, one was a Fin from Michigan, so we talked about the UP. Then we got off, went to Safeco, got some beers and went to our seats.

We had pretty good seats on the 3rd base line and were surrounded by a bunch of Detroit people. The Pistons were playing and I was getting text updates because the sports pages on my phone are always 2-3 mins behind. Finally, Jeff and I were on the phone and he was announcing the last 3 mins of the game. It was sad. My heart was broken. My Pistons broke my heart, yet again.

We ended up meeting all these Michigan people at the game, and I think I made plans, and got phone numbers/facebooks names, etc.

The Tigers won! After that Brandon and I started walking back towards my place. Apparently we walked in the middle of 1st Ave...

We stopped at Jimmy John's in Pioneer Square for a sandwich. We got the veggie ones, and in the process met all these boys from Grosse Pointe. We chatted for a bit and they told us to meet them at Kell's by the market. We stayed there, ate, chatted with the Jimmy John's people and then took off towards Kell's. On the way we met more random people on the street, created a bit of havoc, and what not. Then we went to Kells and saw the GP guys again... apparently I added them all on Facebook and vice versa.

After Kells, Brandon and I tried to get a cab, neither of us had cash. It took a few but finally we found a yellowcab, which we took to Ozzies. It was packed! We wanted to sign karokee, but it was hard to even get a drink there. We did meet some random Belgium basketball players? And also this boy wearing a "hecho in conn" shirt that really wanted to do it with Brandon.

We walked back to my place, but tried to stop at Del Ray. The line was forever long, and we were not dealing with that. So, we went to the store, bought a 6 pack of Corona and went back to my house and played Wii. Then Brandon passed out on my floor...

Last night my friend Dan and I went to the M's vs. Red Sox game. He picked me up on his motorcycle, which if you know me, you know I am deathly scared of driving in a car - let alone a bike. He got a new helmet just to fit me! So we took the bike on the backroads - like 4th ave, not 99 - to Safeco. We parked, locked the helmets and walked toward the stadium. Dan had some extra tickets so we sold two to a random couple in line.

OK, but here is the weird, random trade story. Some guy traded us a program and a pencil for a ticket. I am not sure why he threw in the pencil. Then Dan went to this guy who has a "homeless vet" cardboard sign that is at most games and gave him a ticket, the program and the pencil in return for a compliment to me. I also have to mention... he was a surprisingly clean homeless vet. We go in, I buy a t-shirt, we get food and drinks (no alcohol today! My liver needs a break and Dan was on the motorcycle) and sat in our seats.

We sat for awhile, watched the M's play decently, watched some Red Sox get ejected. Then this guy comes and sits next to us. Turns out he got the ticket from the homeless vet... and guess what... he had the program and the pencil! So, then in turn, I got the pencil back. Weird.

The Red Sox tied the game, but then in the bottom of the 9th the M's won. They charged the field in celebration as if they won the freaking World Series, but instead they just broke their 7 game losing streak.

Then Dan took me home - on the bike. I was less scared this time, but still I am afraid of cabs pulling in front of us and what not.

The Tigers are here Thur-Sun - I cannot wait! Until then, I will keep watching the Pistons game... I hate how the announcers are all for Boston. They Pistons are up 42-38... GO PISTONS!

Last night Randon and I walked to the market and then met up with Tom, Mike and Mike's son for the M's game.

We walked to the stadium, but on our way stopped at this Mexican restaurant at Harbor Steps called Guaymas Cantina. It was so-so. The service was pretty bad though, very slow and we were one of the only tables. They kept forgetting to bring our drinks and we had to ask for our drinks three times. They finally came with the meal. The margarita was watered down and the food was just OK. The salsa bar was fully stocked with a few options, which was good. It is convenient place if you are near it, but if you are craving good Mexican or margaritas... go elsewhere.

We went to the M's game and had pretty good 3rd row seats, but right in the section where you get all the line drives. Actually some girl got hit in like the 3rd inning in the section next to ours. This guy in the pics caught the ball, and he didn't give it to her. Instead like 2 seconds later he called his buddy to tell him he caught a ball. Really, douchebag, it's a foul ball, give it to the girl who got a broken nose by catching it with her face. Speaking of face, my face is still so swollen in these pics!

Yeah, if you know this guy, you should call him out.

After the game, we all went to Umi Sake House for sushi and some drinks. After that we cabbed to Ballard to meet up with my friend Greg at the Tractor. We stayed there a bit, had a few drinks... ended up closing out the bar.

We had to go out to Market Street to get a cab, and this cab slowed for us, and before he would let us in he called us to the window and said... Let me see you. He then said alright, get in. As we were driving he explained that lately he has been picking up a lot of "tweakers" and those people are crazy and will slit your throat for a few bucks... We obviously we not tweakers, so he drove us home. Weird.

He sleeps forever, I have been trying to get him to wake up for hours. He is on eastcoast time, you would think he would be up at 7... but it's now 11 and the kid is still asleep!!! I want breakfast!!

Oh, the cruise boat is in... which I do not know why that makes me so happy, but it does.

Saturday, April 26, 2008

Well, last night my friend Dan called (a different Dan) and wanted to know if I was down for the Mariners game. Of course I was! So we met up at Del Ray for happy hour, had a few beers and some food then took the free ride zone bus from 1st and Bell to 1st and Jackson. We had to walk a few blocks to the stadium and during this walk is where we first got the Rickshas idea.

We bought some tickets off a scalper... who wanted us to pay a lot more and he decided he would do a coin toss and if he won we would pay $50 and if we won we would pay $40.. He gave me the coin to toss - I checked to make sure it had a heads and a tails, and I flipped let it land on the ground... and tails it was. He won... Then we got some free Rockstar Energy drinks and headed to Safeco, where Dan had to sneak in the Rockstars. We grabbed some beers - I was drinking Full Sail again, and Dan was drinking Pyramid Hef. The good beers are expensive there! We watched the game, ate a few garlic fries, made a plan to streak the field at an upcoming game, drank some more beers... Oh and I got a new hoodie at the team shop...

The M's lost to the Athletics... then the game ended and we decided to take a Rickshas ride from Safeco to Ivar's. We didn't exactly know where the Rickshas was taking us, but we just went. Here is the video:

We ate at Ivar's - the chowder is SO GOOD! I had the red, Dan had the salmon. We took some pics, then were just going to walk to my apartment.

Well, we leave Ivar's and oh my, another Rickshas. Here is the video of that one:

We walked across the Pier 66 bridge, up Bell to my apartment. We got some beer from the party store and then hung out in my apartment. We were going to sit on my balcony and watch crackheads, but none really came. Maybe calling the police is working!!

We ordered calzones from Amante and it was yummy! Oh, also, we dropped something off my balcony to the one below and had to design and build something to get it off. We ended up using a wire hanger, a long tape measure, and a lot of sticky packing tape. After fishing a bit, we got it! It was quite funny and we laughed quite a bit.

Then Dan went home - and I went to bed super late that night. Oh, by the way... my friend Dan is so much fun! - Happy, Dan? :)

Oh, I forgot, I got served a subpoena today. For those of you that know, I have court on May 6, as a witness, and I am dreading it so much!
